1. How to Reach
Sissu is located just 40 kms away from Manali on the Leh-Manali Highway, 6 kms from Atal Tunnel. It is easily accessible by road. You can take volvo till Manali and book taxi or cab from there to reach Sissu. We took volvo from Manali and reach Sissu by cab. It was a beautiful road journey with amazing views. You can reach Sissu by Air and rail as well. The closest airport is Bhuntar Airport (Kullu-Manali Airport), and the nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar Railway Station.
2. Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Sissu is during the summer months of May to June and September to October. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and the roads are generally open, allowing easy access to the village. Winters (November to April) can be extremely cold and challenging due to heavy snowfall and road closures.
3. Accommodation
Sissu offers a range of accommodation options, including guesthouses, lodges, and camps. These accommodations provide basic amenities and a cozy stay amidst the natural beauty of the region. We stayed at Hotel Alyas Sissu, our stay was great. This hotel is located at good location offering stunning views of the Sissu waterfall and food is also good.

5. Travel Tips
Carry warm clothing, even during summer, as temperatures can drop significantly, especially in the evenings. Pack clothes in layers including cotton tees, light jackets, heavy woollens. Also, wear clothes in layering so that you can easily remove or add on clothes according to weather condition. Stay hydrated and carry some snacks while traveling, as the journey through mountainous terrain can be tiring. Respect local customs and traditions. Check road conditions and weather forecasts before embarking on your journey, especially during the winter months.
8. Safety Precautions
Altitude sickness can be a concern due to the high elevation. Being at the height, there may be chances of AMS. Have you ever noticed or felt short of breath, dizziness, headache, vomitting? I am sure you must have came across such situations while travelling. Acclimatization is the reason. Therefore, it is important to take medicine before and keep yourself hyderated. We have consulted our doctor and took AMS medicine – Diamox as prescribed by him.
