Welcome to Jaisalmer! Jaisalmer is a lovely place to explore the Thar Desert and spend few days in relaxing mode while enjoying Rajasthan culture.I personally love Rajasthan, their culture, bright-colored bangles, clothes, their attire, colorful streets, and yummy food. I went to Jaisalmer in the month of February. Here, I am sharing my travel experience with you.

Day 1-
We had train from New Delhi Railway Station in evening to Jaisalmer. It’s an overnight journey. We reached city next day in morning around 11.30 AM. We have booked Hotel Royal Haveli to feel and stay like royals. The hotel was built in haveli style and the interiors of hotel were beautifully decorated with colored fabric curtains. I really loved it. We had lunch on roof top restaurant of the Hotel and explored Gadisar Lake in evening.
Day 2-
Next day was most exciting day for us. We have planned the day in 2 halves. In first half, we visited Bada Bagh – It’s on a hill featuring many royal cenotaphs or chhatris of Jaisalmer Maharajas. This is the same place where shooting of Bollywood movie – Ek Paheli Leela has been done.

Second half was our camel trekking – sunset tour with night stay in the desert. Jaisalmer trip is incomplete without taking camel ride and exploring Thar Desert. We head towards the desert. We were very much excited. We were totally amazed and loved the view. It was beautiful golden sand all around and blue sky above us. It’s a different and exciting feeling altogether. We took sunset tour on camel, sit on sand spend beautiful time there and enjoyed a lot. We did dune bashing as well in safari.
They are driven by professional drivers who know how to drive on sand and they just gave us awesome experience. It was just an amazing evening we had. After sunset, we move to our night camp. At Camp, we enjoyed bon fire followed with rajasthani dance, puppet show and dinner. Sleeping in a tent, camping on desert was although a new and different experience.
Day 3-
Next Day we went to Jaisalmer Fort and other Patwon-ki-Haveli. Jaislmer Fort is no doubt beautiful and its interior is amazing. Most amazing fact is that still many people live inside the fort. Fort has many eateries and small shops inside. I shopped rajasthani souvenirs from there. View of the city is stunning from the fort. It seems we are watching a movie. Patwon-ki-Haveli is a collection of five houses, each one for the son of a wealthy trader who made money lending to the government. You will find many guides outside the gate who offer their services. Don’t miss to have Bhang ki lassi, shop is just outside the fort. I visited this shop almost every day, I was in Jaisalmer, and I highly recommend it! The bhang Lassi is really good & tasty and they have many flavors in it.
Day 4-
This was our last day in the beautiful golden city – Jaisalmer. We had train after lunch. We check out from hotel and spent some time in the market and then had back to Delhi.

Jaisalmer welcomes its tourists with forts and beautiful temples, escorting the ethereal charm of the Great Indian Desert. The golden shade of the fort, the golden sands of the Thar desert with the golden sun shining down makes it a magical and unforgettable experience to any visitor. Everyone should visit this beautiful place once in a lifetime.
