Being a Punjabi myself, I know Punjabis are big time foodies. To us, food is everything! Amritsar β city of holiest Gurudwara, Golden temple (Harmandir Sahib) is not only a religious place, but at the same time it is equally famous for its mouth watering delicacies. No doubt, Amritsari kulchas along with a glass full of lassi is famous all over the world.
I am excited to share my favorite and best places to eat in Amritsar with you. Letβs start with the list-
-
Langar at Gurudwara (Golden Temple) β
Nothing can be more delicious and special then the langar served at the Gurudwara. Hundreds of people daily prepare langar at the largest free kitchen of Gurudwara which is served to the massive number of people. The langar is cooked by volunteers each day which consists of dal, roti, sabzi and kheer. The kitchen of Gurudwara feeds all devotees regardless of their caste or religion. Do not miss to have kada Prasad when in Gurudwara. Kada Prasad is made in pure desi ghee. Its aroma and taste will leave you amazed.

Brothers Dhabba β
Brothers Dhabba is located near town hall near Golden Temple. A trip to the golden city is incomplete without having food at Brothers Dhabba. I had stuffed kulche and paranthe with lots of butter and chole. It was mind blowing. You must try their matka kulfi too, which is served in a matka topped with nuts and wrapped with traditional red colored bandhani fabric. They have lovely presentation and service is also good.

Kesar Da Dhabba β
Donβt underestimate the food of this dhabba after reaching out there by crossing narrow lanes of Amritsar. Kesar Da Dhabba is very old dhabba of the city, serving the best maa ki dal. Best place for all vegetarians, you will love having their super delicious maa kid al, palak paneer and lachcha parantha. Make sure that you reach the dhabba having buffer time in hand as you may have to wait for your turn for long especially on weekends.

Ahuja Milk Bhandar β
Punjabis love lassis. A glass full of sweet and creamy lassi will make your day. Try flavored lassi at Ahuja Milk Bhandar, its near Hindu College. They have a lot of varities of lassi which will leave you speechless. They serve freshly prepared lassi topped with a scoop full of butter. This is a must visit place when in Amritsar. You cannot complete your food without having a glass full of lassi. My personal favorite is Kesar Lassi.
-
Beera Chicken House β
Amritsar has mouth watering dishes for non vegetarians too. Try tandoori chicken, you will feel like having more and more. Its aroma of marinated spices and roasted flavor is so perfect that you will not get the same taste anywhere else. Must try their Amritsari fish and Butter Chicken. They have a small shop, its not a big restaurant. You may not find a proper sitting place; you can either enjoy your food in car or can take away to the hotel. I must say they have food with a great taste.
-
Brijwasi Chat Bhandar β
Itβs time to have some ultimate and delicious snacks in Amritsar. Brijwasi Chat Bhandar is famous for bhalla papdi chat, bun tikki and aloo tikki. They have sitting space to where you can order and enjoy your chaat. Indeed, it is the best place for street food and chat lovers. The shop is located near Crystal Chowk.
